Calamity Jane
Calamity Jane is the story of Martha Jane Burke, an intrepid woman who lived like a man in 1870s Dakota Territory, USA. The musical is based on the hit 1953 movie starring Doris Day in the lead role, but includes much more chorus work and more complex orchestration. This DODS production also incorporated original choreography by Kathy White, orchestration by Roger Winter and overall direction by Darren Kitchin.
Critics loved the show, praising in particular the "skilfully organised production...full of enthusiasm and commitment...the 
technical support on the was very good indeed and we all had a most entertaining evening" (Rose Bowl Critic) and "the pace was good and there was never a dull moment. The singing was of a high standard and the orchestra accompanied sympathetically. It was all nicely cued and the whole show exuded charm" (NODA Critic) and "it was a gutsy show, full of energy and thoroughly enjoyable" (GDA Critic).
