Peter Pan
This pantomime is an adaptation of J. M. Barrie's classic 1904 story about a boy who never grew up. The three children of the Darling family receive a visit from Peter Pan, who takes them to Never Never Land where an ongoing war with the evil Pirate Captain Hook is taking place. This enchanted island is home to Peter, Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and her Indian tribe, and the scheming Captain Hook who is as intent on defeating Peter Pan as he is from escaping the ticktocking crocodile that once bit off the pirate's hand. Tinkerbell, here played as a proto-punk mage with more than a bit of attitude, practices an ambivalent sort of magic, jealous a she is about Peter's new friends. In the end the evil Captain Hook is defeated the Darling family returned to their London Home. Ultimately this is a tragicomedy which suggests that perhaps one cannot be both adult and experience the blissful freedom of childish fantasy which is Neverland. Growing up is about making a choice between these two worlds.
